Ōhshō (おうしょう), the Japanese name for the Chinese Wang Xiang (王祥), was an official of the Imperial government. When his stepmother expressed a desire for fresh fish in the middle of winter Ōhshō went down to a river which was frozen over, stripped, laid down on the ice and melted a hole. Fortunately, and to his benefit, leapt through the hole and into his hands.
