A LIFE CUT SHORT

Nakamura Kanjaku II died at the age of 28. As was the custom he was given a posthumous Buddhist name or hōmyō. In Japanese it is 歌竹翫旭日雀倍士. (As yet I am unable to give the English transliteration.)

There is another example of this print in the collection of Waseda University.
